SINGLE ORIGIN COFFEE, FOOD AND INDULGENCE - LAUNCH OF 'THE SQUARE' BY CAFÉ COFFEE DAY AT NARIMAN POINT, MUMBAI
Mumbai, 14 July, 2014 : Café Coffee Day (CCD), India’s pioneer and largest retail chain of coffee cafés has launched its most premium offering - ‘The Square’ in Mumbai. Located at CR2 mall in Nariman Point, The Square addresses the absolute coffee connoisseur. This speciality offering from CCD presents the widest range of some of the best known Single Origin Coffees from around the world with food to compliment each brew. The Square was showcased over a unique interactive session exclusively for the food blogger fraternity and twitteratis of the city.
The Square is a uniquely designed café that serves a variety of single origin coffee coffees from around the world in an environment which is comfortable and avant garde. Single origin coffees are procured from beans grown in a single location, giving the coffee uniformity. It is the business class of coffee drinking where each cup of coffee brings you the distinct flavour and richness capturing the essence and characteristics of its surroundings. This makes drinking it a deeply sensorial experience. The Square offers seven exquisite varieties of single origin coffees from Latin America, Africa and India.
The single origin coffees at The Square were showcased through a unique coffee cupping session. Hosted by CCD coffee evangelist, Rhicha Sinha and corporate food consultant and writer, Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal the various nuances of these speciality coffees along with tips on foods that pair well with it were shared. Rushina also demonstrated recipes using coffee as an ingredient. The special line up of coffees at The Square include three Indian coffees - Rajgiri Pearl, Indian Kathlekhan Superior and Mysore Nuggets Extra Bold; and four international coffees - Costa Rican Tarrazu, Colombian Supremo, Ethiopian Sidamo and Guatemala Antigua.
The session was fun, interactive and insightful with the guests inquiring and deliberating about everything related to coffee. The guests not only sampled all the coffees on offer but were also given their favourite coffee freshly ground and packed to take home. They were also given Kathlekhan coffee candied nuts specially created by Rushina for the event.
Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal Author and Corporate Culinary Consultant and curator of the event said, Single Origin coffees are some of nature’s finest coffees. The Square has curated some of the best from around the world and I love the Indian Single Origin Coffees available at The Square. There is an inherent earthiness and layers of flavours and complexity in Indian single origin coffees that I love. And The Square brings the science and art of coffee for the evolved Coffee lover. Coffee and Food matching is not new, but it certainly is explorable. And cooking with coffee is an unexplored area with much potential. It was a pleasure to showcase The Square and its coffees to the coffee lovers of Mumbai. And as I got to know the company I was proud of this intrinsically Indian company. The history of the company is intertwined with coffee history in India. That and the fact that this company has done so much for the Indian coffee industry put so many resources in coffee farming, research and education. It’s a true Indian success story we should all celebrate.
The Square observes the highest standards of service and ambience to offer a one-of-a-kind experience to the Indian coffee connoisseur. The café is refined and minimalist in design and the furniture is eclectic and contemporary. The ambience is set in warm tones of coffee that is inviting to a coffee enthusiast. There is also ‘The Huddle Room’, a 9-seater meeting room created for those looking for inspiration - be it at a corporate meeting or a low-key get together.
So, the next time you stop at The Square, sit back, wrap your hands around your beloved cuppa and let the mysteries of the java reveal themselves.
