Chennai, 6 November, 2013: Café Coffee Day (CCD), India’s pioneer and largest retail chain of coffee cafés launches its most premium café format - 'The Coffee Day Square (CDS)' in one of Chennai's prime locales, Nungambakkam. This is the 100th store of the retail chain in the city. This speciality format cafe is an offering that indulges the absolute coffee connoisseur. The Coffee Day Square or dearly referred to as CDS was showcased over a stimulating celebration on the theme of 'Evolved Tastes' to commemorate the cafe’s distinctive speciality - single origin coffees, the pinnacle for coffee lovers. Joining this celebration were renowned achievers and highly evolved creative personas – National Award winning Actress, Director and Script writer, Suhasini Maniratnam and talented playback Singer, Karthik.

The Coffee Day Square is a uniquely designed café that serves a variety of single origin coffees from around the world in an environment which is comfortable and avant garde. Single origin coffees are procured from beans grown in a single location, giving the coffee uniformity. It is the business class of coffee drinking where each cup of coffee brings you the distinct flavour and richness capturing the essence and characteristics of its surroundings. This makes drinking it a deeply sensorial experience. The Coffee Day Square offers seven exquisite varieties of single origin coffees from Latin America, Africa and India.

Revelling in the distinct aromas of the cafe’s premium coffees, the two special guests, Suhasini Maniratnam and Karthik, shared their own thoughts on ‘Evolved Tastes’. Both coffee enthusiasts conversed on their creative journeys and artistic evolution in their respective fields. They also shared memorable moments of creative evolution that happened over coffee. The interesting tete-a-tete progressed to a conversation on music and how it has evolved over the years. This was followed by a splendid performance by Karthik who enthralled everyone with his velvet-honey voice as he sang a few of his popular numbers at The Square.

Merlin Raj, Coffee Evangelist, threw light on the evolution of coffee and the evolution of consumers and their tastes. "Coffee Day Square introduces many to the most evolved taste in coffees i.e. single origin coffees. It is a complement to coffee lovers who are ready for newer experiences. The delicious bites offered at The Square pair well with these premium coffees. This cafe is for those that appreciate the distinct taste of brews and we are glad to be able to provide this experience."

Added Ms Maniratnam, "It is great when a brand evolves to include its audiences' evolving preferences. The idea of single estate origin coffees is great and it seems apt to have come from a brand that introduced so many people in the country to coffee.'

Speaking on the same, Karthik said, "I thoroughly enjoyed being here at the launch of the Square. It was a unique celebration to mark the evolution of not just coffee, but that of taste, art and creative thinking. The passion of the brand in providing new experiences is fantastic. I wish CCD all the best and look forward to more such one-of-a-kind offerings and experiences from them."

The Coffee Day Square observes the highest standards of service and ambience to offer a unique experience to the Indian coffee connoisseur. The café is refined and minimalist in design and the furniture is eclectic and contemporary. The ambience is set in warm tones of coffee that is inviting to a coffee enthusiast. So, the next time you stop at Coffee Day Square, sit back, wrap an arm around your beloved beverage and let the mysteries of the java reveal themselves.
